My Adventure Through the Golden Age of Couture!

Despite the last weekend being packed with Belmont University college preparation, I managed to squeeze in a trip to the Frist Center for Visual Arts, located in downtown Nashville. I was determined to visit their opening of The Golden Age of Couture! This exhibit features clothing, tailoring, and dress inspirations from Paris’ and London’s most monumental designers of what Dior termed, the "Golden Age," (1947-1957). Sadly, I wasn’t able to use film to share with you all the wonderful discoveries I saw, but you can visit for yourself if you are ever near the Nashville area! The exhibit is open until September 12, and tickets are free for those 18 and under!! The displays include many sketches of ready-to-wear, Chanel’s three piece suit and cocktail dress , a Dessès afternoon dress designed for Princess Margaret’s 18th birthday, and a Givenchy cape and gloves set, similar to the one Audrey Hepburn wore in the 1957 film Funny Face. Another favorite of mine was the fashion dolls and their own miniature designer clothing! Click here to reserve tickets or learn more!

The Red Carpet Stole the Show!!! Really….

I was originally going to post my own review on last night's Grammy performances..but let's just say it would have been a tad short of "Gold Stars." I mean don't get me wrong, I had some moments when I was blown away (i.e. Lady A and the Michael Jackson Tribute which was pretty solid) but then there were a lot of moments where I thought, "What the heck were all the explosions and weird robot people for?" (By the way, Lady Gaga ruined a perfectly good Elton John song:( ) Anyways, here are my favorite Red Carpet appearances:

Carrie Underwood. I love her, she's gorgeous, and even better,... she can sing...ANYTHING. By far my favorite :)

Carrie*

This color is just spectacular on her, and I love the feathery detail just below the wasteline and the "one-shoulder." It's simple, unique, feminine, and pretty! And to honestly say, I might just consider watching Glee now.:)

Lea Michele*

I am really loving the "one-shoulder," look! The color and structure is beautiful. This harmonious trio not only gets an "A," but also three superlatives for Most: "Elegant", "Classy", and "Just All-Around Amazing.":) Bravo Lady A!!

Lady*

I have to put Keith and Nicole on here. You just can't leave this couple out:) End of story. :D
